Beneath the hills, a traveling circus wends it’s way, performing in all the fairy realms and mortal worlds besides.
Under Hollow Hills, in which you play the members of this traveling fiary circus, successfully kickstarted in the autumn of 2019. Early play reports have been very positive, and the book design is underway. We are working with over a dozen different artists to include a wide and varied depiction of fairyland, and the work continues apace.
For the most steady updates, I encourage you to join Vincent’s patreon. I’m on twitter at nightskygames, and that’s a good way to find me.
In 2020, I will be at Dreamation and GenCon and Metatopia, at least. I’m working in three different museums and teaching LARP Skills at the local high school, so life is full and rich, but time is sometimes short.
May your 2020 be full of peace and play!
Hi folks. Most of our conversations about games and game design happen in a small handful of places. Vincent and I are both on g+, and on twitter, and Vincent is way better at posting on anyway than I am at posting here. There’s also the Apocalypse World forum and the Powered By the Apocalypse community on g+ for all your AW-related needs.
In other news, I’m producing a new short seasonal game every six weeks through my patreon, Vincent is talking about his design process through his patreon, and Vincent and I are working on a couple other things which will come out in due time.
Thanks, and we’ll see you around!
After being extremely busy this year, including a huge game design project with The Girl Effect
(http://www.girleffect.org/), I am ready to let the ideas settled down and get themselves in order. I’m working on a couple little games - hopefully some will survive the playtesting and refinement and become a real thing in the spring!
My nano-game is now available for sale!
Valiant Girls
Thanks to the combined work of Paul Czege, Michele Gelli, and Claudia Cangini, I have copies of Bacchanalia in English for sale in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This is an astonishingly beautiful game, full of drama and sensuality. I am very pleased to be able to offer it to the North American market. If you want more info, check out the website: Bacchanalia
Hello folks! I went to PAX, it was delightful. I sold a lot of copies of 1001 Nights, but there are more to be had! And now you can have one, if you follow the links on the side.
Thanks for all the amazingly kind words and enthusiastic comments from folks who picked it up at PAX - you are excellent.
From Filamena Young:
We have a million gaming books. A good percentage of them are little indie games we backed on KSer. My children are always interested in the books that come in. (Mail is exciting when you’re young.)
I have seen no love or affection so strong in their response to our game books than that to +Meguey Baker ‘s 1001 Nights.
They are fixated, the two-nearly-three year old especially. She will sit and look through the book, from illustration to illustration with the gold tones of the book bouncing off her skin and lightly illuminating her. She’ll look up at me, and I can see she’s not blue eyed like her sister, but more like olive, like me. She’ll look back down and study words she can’t possibly be reading. But she scans them like she is. My kids like books, but this one, I literally have to hide from her or she’ll steal it and hide somewhere just… staring at it.
I know the oldest is bitterly jealous she can’t play this game yet. (Though I think she still doesn’t entirely understand how games come from books.)
Meg, what have you done?! You’ve bewitched my daughters!
From Joe Beason:
I was thinking today that I should ease off on kickstarters/imdiegogos, then I opened my box o’ stuff from pledging +Meguey Baker’s 1001 Nights. I grow weak in the presence of beauty.
I’ve sent out very nearly all the books to backers of the IndieGoGo campaign - only 6 left to pack up out of 120-something. I’m starting to get lovely notes like the ones below:
@daharadreams
Fyi, look what I got in today’s mail! @nightskygames’ ‘A Thousand and One Nights.’ So enjoyable and beautiful http://instagr.am/p/OsYmIPG4Rz/
@tresi
Oh wow, @NightSkyGames’s new edition of A Thousand and One Nights is absolutely beautiful.
@ProfBeard
Just received A Thousand and One Nights by @nightskygames - so pretty! HT @geeknights for talking about it. http://yfrog.com/ocuuoftj
I just got off the phone with my printer, and my books are ready! This means I’ll be packaging books this weekend, which is super-exciting to me.
Also, I’ll be at PAX Prime in 10 days, which is also super-exciting. I’m super-excited!
I am very pleased to announce the IndieGoGo campaign to fund printing of the 2nd edition of 1001 Nights! Also, holy cats, half way there in 5 hours?!!? Cooo-ooool. Thanks folks!
